1968 Fender Telecaster Thinline lake placid blue

Wow. Custom color Thinline in rare Lake Placid Blue. Standardised in 1960, Fenders range of custom colour options were based on the Du Pont colour charts. Lake Placid Blue was a Lucite acrylic shade unlike shades such as Sonic Blue that were Duco Nitrocellulose.

Excellent condition, 8,5/10, Made in USA, neck stamped 3NOV68B, custom colorextremely clean guitar with only slight crazing in the finish and a few tiny laquer chips by the neck pocket, the metallic blue finish has turned into a beautiful green from sunlight and a yellowed top coat nitro finish, maple neck with maple cap fingerboard, during the late 60s the maple cap neck was a custom order from Fender, rosewood being the standard from the late 50s, extremely light weight at 2,52kg (about 5,55lbs), including original hardcase (logo with no tail like the pre-67 version) and original Kluson double line tuners which were used 1965 until 1967 so this guitar from November 1968 is one of the last instrument fitted with Klusons, including bridge cover marked 380 in pencil underneath, in the case is an era-correct original Fender strap and some vintage papers, original frets with some fret wear, lots of numbers and names stamped in the neck pocket, both pickups have orange and green cloth cables, the pots are dated 3046617 (17th week of 1966)
