Very Good condition, 7/10, Made in USA, sold at Guernseys Johnny Winter The Auction 2016 and was owned, played and used by Johnny on the album Still Alive and Well from 1973 where it is also depicted on the cover, a true piece of rock ´n´roll history, including original hardcase which is beat up and worn, including some paperwork from the Auction, the tailpiece is damaged but still functional, more info: National Triolian Model Resophonic Mandolin, made in Los Angeles, California, brown sunburst enamel finish, steel body, basswood neck with ebonized fingerboard, original black hard shell case. A great example of an early National Triolian Mandolin, one of the more popular of the California company's Depression-era creations. With a retail price of $40.00 in the early 1930's, this steel-bodied 8-string machine offered a lot of sonic firepower for the player's hard-earned money. This is one of the loudest mandolins you will ever hear, and has a surprisingly rich bell-like tone. Perfect for ragtime and jugband styles, and the perfect match to any walnut finish Triolian guitar. Overall length is 27 1/2 in. (69.8 cm.), 12 3/4 in. (32.4 cm.) width, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) deep. Scale length is 15 in. (381 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.).
