The Fender Blues Jr is part of the popular Hot Rod series of tube amps from Fender. It is regarded as a high-quality, simple and portable tube amp for stage or studio use. The EL-84 output tubes provide fat mids, the 12AX7 preamp tube provides warm overdrive, and real springs provide onboard reverb. It also includes footswitchable FAT boost and external speaker capability.
In 2001, production shifted from the USA to Mexico. Several different coverings have been offered over the course of production.
